1-Doing self-analysis And Research

First and foremost, potential international students should put their first step forward by deciding the course. He/she has planned to study abroad and which college and university offer these programs. A student should explore the possible scope of that particular course in terms of employability and growth. Besides deciding to do research on the fee and the total cost involved. The student must explore the sources of finances to support the study program.

In general, the students are required to score a minimum overall 6.0 bands score in which no band should be less than 5.5. But some courses and colleges require a minimum of 6.5 bands score with no band score less than 6.0. So far as the TOFEL score is concerned the minimum score required varies from 80 to 88. The higher the band score and the better would be the prospects of getting an acceptance letter from the desired college.

3-Apply for an acceptance letter

Once a student clears the language proficiency test and scores desired band score, the next step is to apply to the college which offers the chosen course/educational program. Here the student should also decide which intake would suit him/her the most. Generally, there are three intakes in Canadian colleges and Universities namely September, January and May. But September intake is the most popular for the students from India.

While applying for colleges, students should apply at least in more than one college. So that chance of getting an acceptance letter remain high and bright. Letter of acceptance is necessary for applying for a study permit. The two important points to be checked in the letter of acceptance such as the college/University must be DLI and the letter should have details like the name of the program and date of start and completion.

4-Apply for a student visa

Soon after receiving of letter of acceptance from DLI, the next step which is also the most deciding and most important is to apply for a study visa which is also known as a study permit. Please ensure that the following documents are ready in order to get the speedy a study permit:

  • Letter of acceptance from DLI
  • Valid passport
  • Proof of language proficiency test (IELTS/TOFEL scorecard)
  • Affidavit of financial support
  • Police clearing certificate (PCC)
  • Medical test report from the designated centre

The processing time varies from 3 weeks to 12 weeks. The candidate should also be ready for bio-metrics and interview. The candidate can apply on his/ her own or can consult an experienced and competent visa consultancy firm.

5-Travel preparation

Once the candidate receives a study permit all he/she need is to book travel tickets. Also arrange all the necessary articles needed for the future stay in Canada which may include
