This year's presidential contest will be one of the most unconventional and historically significant the country has ever seen. The election is officially a two-horse contest. The 2024 US election appears to be a repeat between President Joe Biden and Donald Trump, who both proved dominant in their respective primaries. Whoever appears on the ballot, the swing states are expected to play a critical role in what is expected to be an exceptionally close election.
Even though higher education has become a relatively noisy policy topic in the United States, fueled by concerns and posturing about student costs, job-market disruptions, social divisions, freedom of speech, and other issues, the sector is unlikely to play a decisive role in almost any 2024 election.
However, the election results in November might have far-reaching consequences for American institutions, beginning with the difficult-to-predict presidential campaign between incumbent Joe Biden and his Republican opponent—most likely, at this point, Donald Trump.
